I can’t believe March is almost over already… it’s been quite a month! Thank you so SO much to everyone who’s come out to gigs, dragged their friends along to see us play, reposted vids / interviews, sent positive messages and vibes my way <3, and to the friends and family who have had so much patience with my schedule being a bit nuts!
I have one more March gig, TONIGHT, supporting Shiver Canyon’s EP launch at the Grace Darling. This will be a bit special! I’ve known Roni a long time and I’m so proud to be playing in support of this long anticipated release! She’s a creative powerhouse and one of the most genuine people out there. The amazing Aphir will also be playing tonight, and I’m excited to finally see her live - I met her last year at one of the MESS synthesiser workshops I was running, and she’s such a great example of someone who follows her creative curiosity with determination and openness - can’t wait to see how that radical softness manifests onstage. We also get to check out Liana Pearl and the Perolas for the first time! Doors open at 8pm TONIGHT. The four of us recently got together and interviewed each other for Happy mag, which was really fun.
In case you missed it, the GIVE IT AWAY filmclip came out this month! The Ladies Network interviewed me for its online premiere, and I was so, so happy to have it go out into the world via their excellent platform. Check out the rest of their site, it's seriously a rabbit hole of inspiration.
Next month I’ll be jumping into a writing/recording/creating cocoon and also spending time in preproduction workshops for some upcoming contemporary dance theatre projects…
See some of you at tonight’s gig!
For those more into sound design/video art than synth-pop, this is a glimpse of some of the *other* stuff I do... thanks so much to the lovely peeps at Eucalypt for premiering the clip for my track 'The Light Gets In' ! (And yep, that is a Leonard Cohen reference!) click on the image below for the link...
This track is more of an abstract sound+video art piece, and it holds a lot of personal meaning to me (you can read about why on Eucalypt) - it features on the new compilation tape from Elestial Sound, which launches *THIS SUNDAY* at Eastmint with a minifest of amazing acts: A Thousand Tones. I'll be playing there with the full band line-up (Ania Reynolds on *triple* MOOG, Nat Grant on drumkit).
Also thanks so much to everyone who came along to the 'Give It Away' clip showcase last night! Everyone was so lovely. I was a lil bit nervous for its first reveal (and if you were there you will probably understand why!) but you all gave me such a beautiful space to test the waters with it. It will be up in the interwebs *so* very soon...
Thanks also to Louise Terra for her dreamy set and just generally gorgeous presence. We really are spoiled for choice in Melbourne with all these amazing local babes!
After a monster ‘flue stole my voice and my mojo for a fortnight I am *so* happy to be back in rehearsals with my incredible bandmates Nat Grant & Ania Reynolds, speeding towards our GIVE IT AWAY film clip LAUNCH at the end of this month! Not only will it be the film clip’s first outing, it will be our very first gig with Ania’s extra synth wizardry - it’s going to be pretty damn special. We’ll be joined by the swoon some LOUISE TERRA, it all kicks off Thursday 23rd February, at LONGPLAY in North Fitzroy.
In other news, I can now announce that I’m a super-special-secret-final-line-up addition to this weekend’s GAYTIMES festival, playing a solo set alongside some of my faves! There’s a *handful* of tix left but numbers are strictly under 1000 punters, so snap them now up if you’re keen.
If you can’t make it to GAYTIMES this weekend, tune into PBS on Saturday night for a live in studio performance and interview with DJ Ides on ELECTRIC SUNSET! Yes I have the magic ability to be in two places at once. (Okay not really, but thanks to the power of automobiles almost anything is possible)
Next weekend we’ll also be playing at the Melbourne launch party for Florida’s ELESTIAL SOUNDS A THOUSAND TONES compilation, alongside some of my favourites like OK SURE and TOYAH HOETZEL, at EASTMINT in Northcote.
You can find all the details on upcoming gigs here, and don't forget to sign up to the MAILING LIST - I'll be sending out a lil something something / free gift to subscribers VERY SOON.
I'm releasing it on the new Synth Babe Records / Node Techno Collective compilation, proceeds going to the International Women's Development Agency (IWDA)
You can find it here...
Since getting my hands on this I've been on a big liking spree across Soundcloud & Facebook, there are SO MANY incredible artists featured here. Hope you love it as much as I do!
(P.S. Keep up with new tracks as they're released by signing up to the MAILING LIST OR keep your eye on the MUSIC page)
An exciting cutting edge night of live electronic music by local Melbourne artists! Impressive line up!
