Toyah Hoetzel Toyah’s aesthetic is really plain to see; it’s a no bulls**t approach to house music with throbbing bass lines and an emphasis on vocals. Home to Melbourne, Toyah began her musical journey as a singer songwriter playing at pubs around Fitzroy and Collingwood. After spending her youth at sweaty nightclubs, it was inevitable that Toyah found herself hooked on driving bass lines and the heaving atmosphere that dance music created. These days you don’t have to look hard to find this chick, as she is constantly collaborating with artists from all over the world including Elle Vee (who has releases with Benni Benassi and Ken Loi) and Dani Mari (founder of Female Frequency). Toyah is constantly refining her craft spending every spare moment composing and producing across all genres, with a trademark ‘Toyah’ style of techno and deep house with soul and pop influences.
Droplet Fierce newcomer Droplet will be delivering a tirade of minimalist electronica encompassing raw emotion & spontaneous energy as featured in Beat’s March edition for her latest self-titled EP release. The haunting vocals & harmonies are honest and unpretentious, displaying a melodic pop elegance, underpinned by a warm chordal ambience. The music portrays a propulsive vibe, capable of steering the listener towards an intense momentary connection.
Emah Fox Emah’s dark brand of synth pop pits urgent beats and ominous synths against sweet polyrhythmic melody. The intricate production satellites around lucid vocals which shift from restrained intensity to epic and soaring. Earlier musical explorations have earned critical acclaim from Rolling Stone ‘nothing sort of joyous’, Ministry of Sound ‘emotive vocals and fine lyrics’ and Revolver ‘world-class electronica’.'
